Privacy and analytics

Information you provide

If you create an account, the service stores your email address, a password hash and account information. Optional reader preferences and interactions are stored when you use those features. The membership-interest form stores your email, submission date and consent. It does not create a paid subscription or send an automatic email.

Site measurement

We count broad page groups and membership actions in daily totals. These aggregate records do not contain visitor IDs, IP addresses, email addresses, story titles or quiz answers. They help us understand whether the site works.

Optional Google Analytics is used only after you allow it, when configured. We send broad page groups and deliberate membership actions rather than specific reading titles or personal preferences. Advertising personalization is disabled. You can reset your choice using Analytics settings in the footer. The optional analytics script respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.

Cloudflare delivers and protects the site and provides traffic and performance measurement. Network processing can include IP addresses, request information and technical logs. Cloudflare measurement is separate from the optional Google setting. Browser totals, Google reports and Cloudflare traffic counts can differ.

Storage and retention

Your browser stores sign-in information and analytics preferences; the reader app can cache public assets. Daily aggregate records are removed after 90 days and membership-interest records after 180 days by scheduled cleanup. Account records remain while the account exists unless removed in response to a request. Google event retention, when enabled, is configured to two months; provider security logs and backups have separate retention rules.

Service providers and your choices

Cloudflare hosts the site and its data. Google processes optional analytics if you consent. AI services are used to create site material and may process information submitted to optional personalization features; you can browse without using those features. We do not send account identifiers, emails or quiz responses in analytics events.

You can request access, correction or deletion by contacting bill.burkey@ememetics.com. We may need to verify ownership before changing an account. We will explain any records that need to be retained. The site is intended for adults 18 and older; contact us if you believe a minor has submitted information.
